Most artists attempt to portray themselves in one or more self- portraits during their careers. These portraitures do more than simply show us what the artists look like.
They often reveal the artists' personalities, interests and life styles.
In my fifth lesson at the Academy my students had to paint an abstract picture of themselves on a 16 x20 canvas in which they had to exaggerate their features.
I wanted them to use line and/or color to express something about their personality.
I painted with oil paint. Then I glued the canvas board on a canvas to add some depth.
I used a new technique to incorporate the angel sculpture, the head and music.
