Ladder To The Sky

This photo of this magnificent tree was taken in the Topanga State Forest. I wanted to get an unusual angle by lying under the awesome presence of this towering tree to get this dramatic perspective.

Julie, This almost reminds me of the story "The Giving Tree." I added this as pic of the day! Love it!

Artist Reply: I am very touched by your comments. I read "The Giving Tree" so many times that I had to replace my copies. I have an extensive collection of children's books and Shel Silverstein's magical book is one of the most tender stories, a moving parable for readers of all ages. I think everyone needs to read this if they have not, especially in today's world where the message of the gift of giving and the acceptance of another's capacity to love are so beautifully written with only a few words and simple line drawings. He has written a masterful collection of poems and drawings that are amusing and profound in "Where the Sidewalk Ends," "A Light in The Attic" and Falling Up, his first book of poetry in 20 years. I love his anti-establishment humor where he lampoons conventions. Like this tree he certainly sees the world from a different angle!! I have read all his books many times alone and with children. They are pure delight!!

gorgeous capture...my favorite place to be, underneath a tree :)

Artist Reply: Thanks so much Barbara. I agree, looking up through this towering tree gives me so much relief from stress. It is so quiet and peaceful, I have to remember to stay awake. We have so many beautiful canyons and mountain trails in Los Angeles and in California our State Parks are magnicent. You might be there one day!!
