Most artists attempt to portray themselves in one or more self- portraits during their careers. These portraitures do more than simply show us what the artists look like.
They often reveal the artists' personalities, interests and life styles.
In my fifth lesson at the Academy my students had to paint an abstract picture of themselves on a 16x20 canvas in which they had to exaggerate their features.
I wanted them to use line and/or color to express something about their personality.
I painted with oil paint. Then I glued the canvas board on a canvas to add some depth.
I used a new technique to incorporate the angel sculpture, the head and music.
I used the picture from my web site for this self-portraiture.
The second picture shows my dedicated students of the art class I teach, working on their own abstract self-portrait.
I am so proud of them!

Great looking group of artists. It's always heartening to see the interest people have in art. There is something eternal about the human desire to create. The trick is to have that magical combination of passion and technique.
