Rough Seas

A 16" x 20" oil painting of the roaring ocean. This painting was done more than a decade ago as an exercise when the artist was first learning to paint. It is an example of her early work for comparison to current works to see development and evolution of style.

AAAh you have the spirit of Winslow Homer, here. So fresh and original, Jerie...albeit an earlier painting from ten years ago, it still has the spirit of excellence in composition.

And I love this earliy work most of all, Jerie - it's so emotional and expressive.

David Holcombe 03 Nov 2006

This has a very Winslow Homer quality to it. Most wave attempts fall a bit short, but this has a great deal of spontaneity and movement. I think you have learned much, but you started from a high level.
