Here is an update on my self portrait drawing, “Pain” 9 x 12 graphite on @strathmoreart 300 Bristol Smooth paper. I am starting to build up the tones and texture on my middle finger. I used a @pentelofamerica P205 mechanical pencil with @pentelofamerica 2B and 4B graphite to block in the shadows. This will help me develop the tone and values of my finger. I’m still layering my graphite by making tiny overlapping circular motions with my pencil and varying my hand pressure (lighter pressure for lighter tones more pressure for darker tones). Slowly but surely it’s getting there. More to come soon!
