This HUGE sculpture was done from a photo taken at Times Square in NYC Sept. 1945 when war ended; Joyful celebration of that event. My shoulder comes up to her heel to give you an idea just how large this sculpture is. I hope you enjoy!
Wow...I have always loved this Sharon! I didn't know they had this sculpture anywhere, so I will have to make it to Sarasota to see it. I wonder if the person who originally took the 1945 photo in Times Square, had any idea how "iconic" this photo is for the rest of the world!!! I love it , thanks for sharing it!
What an amazing work, simply huge and you captured it so well. The shoes look accurate for the time but the skirt would have been much longer, I think.
I seen this Photograph many times throughout the years. I never knew there was a "Sculpture" of it. You did an excellent job photographing this Sharon. Thanks so much for sharing.
The original, and this, are charming, of course.
Recently I saw somewhat a "repurposing": the pose
and characters as a Meme for a Vampire periodical...
and I leave it to your imagination what the sailor is doing...
