This Pied-Billed Grebe was very close to a boardwalk so it must have been young and unafraid of humans. It also was lacking the black band on the bill that comes with maturity. It was the first time to see a grebe on the ground as they are very able divers. Josey Ranch Lake, Carrollton, Texas
