I've just learned that there are seven subspecies of Red-tailed Hawks here in the U.S. and the coloring varies greatly, so this may look very different than those you have seen before. It was a great day yesterday because I am constantly seeing these hawks circling near roadways but it is a very rare occasion when there is one perched anywhere close enough to photograph, there is a safe place to pull off the road and then the bird actually remained in the same place for a few minutes.
