This is a 20" x 20" x 20" work. Each painting is 20" x 20" and the ribbons keep the work from opening more than a right angle. It is Frederick Douglas and Mark Twain, both keen observers who influenced the American public through their speeches and writing about race relations. The black and white ribbons are the two races, both separate, but both holding together variations of the same vision.
