Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens) (2008)

Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens) wrote a vast collection of brilliant and humorous works, touching on all aspects of the American psyche. He was before his time on his subtle and not so subtle condemnations of racism and imperialism, both rampant in his era. His message was couched in a brilliant wit that often made it more palatable to the general public.

Some friends and I were discussing the timelessness of great works of literature late last night and Mark Twain was the freshest example we had, as one of our friend's young sons has just discovered his work. Great work is enduring, speaking to the human experience across time and place, and I feel that is just what you are able to do with your very bold and direct paintings. I love to see them all.
