46x34cms fabric/oil on linen
Fabric was used to represent the stalk and protrudes from the canvas. The sides are painted so there is no need for a frame.
Hey Cathy, you say tomato & I say flippin magnificent. Bet you thought I was going to steal the words from that song young lady. As always, your work needs no help from me; it speaks for itself. XX
Cathy your work is incredible...I like how you have intergrated real materials with paint mediums...It has a powerful visual effect...I enjoyed visiting your portfolio...
Artist Reply: Thanks Lee. I kind of think using materials gives another dimension. Glad you enjoyed stopping by. Regards. Cathy
Artist Reply: Thank you Fiona, praise indeed. I love your Poppy. I clicked onto your website but was a little confused. There seem to be a lot of different artists on there. I was looking for your paintings but think I only found one of you at an exhibition. Perhaps you could enlighten me? Regards. Cathy
Hello Cathy! Love your unique creations. What fun! I really like this tomato it's quirky, especially the stalk extruding from the canvas. Brilliant artwork!
This looks very juicy and fresh.May i Have this for lunch? .:-). Really fantastic works that you are doing. All of your things are ver innovative and unique. Great.
Artist Reply: Thank you Heidi for the great compliment. Of course you may have the tomato for lunch! Enjoy!
This is incredible! I feel like I could reach into the computer and pick up a tomato ! I love how you captured the texture and shine of the skin so well
Artist Reply: Thank you Amy. Your photos inspire me to do more!
Be happy!
Cathy
Great idea and concept. Keeping the red very vibrant is a great skill in oil. What size are these.
Wonderful
Artist Reply: Thanks for the lovely comments. Tomato is 46x34 cms, probably smaller than you expected. The close-up makes you think it's quite large. I might do a really big one, I think that would be funky. Peacock feathers for example is larger 80x60cms. As for showing great skill? Mmmm, I've only been painting 6 years and still have a lot to learn!
very vibrant. i like this style very much and the fabric is an interesting feature. for some reason, i don't like your beans - reminds me of fingernails - but the rest is great. thanks.
Artist Reply: Thanks for your comment Gail, appreciate it. String beans is one of my key pieces and its what got me on the road to using textures. It was one of the first I did. It also won me several competitions. Everyone sees different things in it though, one person said they saw sheep but fingernails is a first! I'm working on a huge bean picture called 'dream of beans' and I've asked for critique in the forum. Maybe you could have a look for me. The thread is titled 'dream of beans'. Thanks.
Artist Reply: Thanks. That was quick! I had literally just joined and put this image on. Had a look at your work too. Truly brilliant. I love the way you go in close.
