View from my window GLOWING SUNSET©

_________________

One of a series about "View from my window"

"Le paysage n'est pas que le "miroir de l'âme."
(The landscape is like the mirror of the soul)
Avec un clin d'oeil amical a Nelly!

This painting shows a fierce sky with an intensity of darks, yet the lush warm hue of the reds and yellow tones seem to warm the painting up, in which the top and bottom balance each other out. (I used at least about 10 different reds!!)

I like the intensity of this dramatic sky, contrasting the low dark horizon with the mysterious silhouettes of the rolling hills of Pennsylvania.

I want the viewer to feel the power of the setting of the sun below the rich bright western horizon, and see the atmospheric glow and coloring of the evening near the horizon, as the sun sets, just before the sky will become dark and the night will begin.
You wish it would be a never ending beauty...

Congratulations, it is fantastic Olga! Moving and Beautifully done!

jamie winter 01 Mar 2007

The paintings are outstnding uses of what clor can protray. Putting them side by side realy brings this apart. Olga, your work is so impressive. I note the movement in the blues, a storm, with brush strokes and changing colors. The sky of reds is although void of rapid brush stroke movement, intense (the red range) but yet held back by the blacknes of the clouds and land. Great and powerful color usage. jamie

Lynn De Serres 01 Mar 2007

Awesome work Olga! I think this one is even better! I love those deep reds! :)

Anonymous Guest 26 Feb 2007

Tom and Susan Repasky 25 Feb 2007

You have presented a stunning image for your dear pupils to learn by Olga!! This study in reds is beautiful, with such depth and saturated colors!! Excellent job on this wonderful work of art!! ~S

Beautiful work Olga,colour is amazing.

KC CHANG 24 Feb 2007

GREAT IMAGE!! FIERCELY INTENSE!!!

David Holcombe 24 Feb 2007

I like the overwhelming redness of this work. It creates a mood of dying warmth. There is also a feeling of loneliness, accentuated by the absence of any human elements. I think all painting is a landscape of the soul since it is the artist's creation. What souls we must have!

Michael Forbus 24 Feb 2007

Olga, excellent lessons and wonderful images. great work. Miguel

Beautiful Olga!

Nelly van Nieuwenhuijzen 24 Feb 2007

marvellous work!!!!!!!!!!

Aqua1955 24 Feb 2007

I think painting is the vieuw from the soul, on wich color use presents the mood inside.. Both paintings are as i think a real example and in your "red" it shows all the power (mood) of "that sertain day". Great work this way in wich i would translate your words: "Le paysage n'est pas que le miroir de l'âme." into "Isn't landscaping the mirror of your soul?"

richard klingbeil 23 Feb 2007

sweeeet colors Olga

Anonymous Guest 23 Feb 2007

Dear Olga:  What a breathtaking painting--indescribable color of the upper sky, and then I see hills in the distance--like the view from your hilltop.           One view I had from the intersection of your street and the entrance, looking east:  It was a shock to see, from your hill, that "humungous" pile of dirt on the top of the Avondale Quarry.  I wonder if you have noticed it too.  I just can't get used to what big machines and big builders can do to our terrain.  I don't think that is what the bible meant about "moving mountains". Ruth
