When I lived in Dingle I used to see this character wandering the streets and then he would vanish for a while. I found out that his vanishing act occurred when he had to be incarcerated in the Killarney Hospital for those of unsound mind. I always had great pity for him when I would see him again wandering the streets with no place to go but the hostel. All of his family except one were crazy in some way and I did this painting and a painter friend of mine bought it. It is not one of my best but it does explore his state of mind to a certain degree. I would like to know what you all think of this and dont spare my feelings. I can take criticism and this was done some while ago.

very interesting work Frank,I have never dealt personally with mental illness but can imagine it is very hard for the person going through it and their family, really feel for the poor man depicted in this work and think it is wonderful he had such an effect on you and you cared enough to want to do a piece on his plightOlga van Dijk 06 Jun 2008
I totally agree with Enright.John Enright 06 Jun 2008
museum worthy. gut level power and wrenching to the soul. you have balls...so few artists do these days. we sit back and watch the news without so much as a cough...let alone using our art to make a statement to stop the killing fields.Jean M. Laffitau 07 Jun 2007
