We'll Be Back... :)

I just wanted to share a couple more shots of our mountain bike adventure to survey the flood damage of the Carbon River Rd. We did have a destination in mind... the sight of road damage from last winter. (See "Beauty in Destruction" or "Road for a Bicycle..Maybe", posted Apr. 2006) We just wanted to see if their repair work held up to this winter's flooding.... It did!! We dumped the bikes a ways back as the snow got deeper and walked a bit farther to have lunch at a lone picnic table along the river bank. As we sat there in this beautiful place, we thought that the snow sure covers the damages well. I also couldn't help but think that the river had so much room in the floodplain, why did it need to tear thru the forest? I guess the answer is...she does what she wants, when she wants. The second shot is the last stretch of river-damaged road on the way back to the entrance. After that, it's a half mile of downhill to the gate. That was real fun!!! Thanks for visiting...I hope you had fun, too!! :)
