Shiraito no Taki

This photo was the result of too many people being around. There was no room on the path to set up the tripod and shoot and at the main viewing area a TV crew was setting up. My girlfriend and I sat down on a rock beside the river and ate lunch while I considered the scene. It was from that lower perspective that I noticed the pink flowers. I used a 24mm lens and moved in close to get the foreground flowers, the flowing stream and the background falls. The only problem was that a guy in a white T-shirt from the TV crew was visible in the grass. I had to wait until he bent over before I could shoot a couple of frames at four seconds. This photo was entered in a contest in 2001 and was selected to be among 60 images to travel to 12 galleries across Japan for exhibition. It was also included in a book to be sold at the exhibitions and later appeared in the Asahi newspaper because Asahi was the main sponsor. I got paid for the use of the photo in the newspaper. :)
