This piece is 14 x 28 inches, and is the largest colored pencil piece I have done as of yet. It was extremely challenging, as it was the first time I had also included such a detailed background/foreground in any of my images. (Let's just say that I won't be using the color GREY for a while!) It has taken over 250 hours to complete, and has been a year in the making.
"Serenity" has been awarded and recognized at the Saskatchewan Wildlife Art Association's (SWAA) "Reflections of Nature" show and competition held every year in Saskatoon, SK. It is one of Canada's largest wildlife art shows (strictly wildlife art). "Serenity" placed First in Class, Best in Division, and 2nd Best in Show in its skill group. It is the first competition I have ever entered, so I was thrilled at the results!<\P>
I want to thank everyone for viewing this image - your comments and "peeks" absolutely thrill me, and I am so glad you stopped by. This is a big step for me as an artist, as I am now proud to call myself a "Wildlife Artist" as it will be my focus from now on. I have visited this image many times, and enjoy looking at the detail of your pencil work. I have a set of colored pencils which I have yet to use. I find this portrait quite inspiring and demonstrates the possibilities of that medium. I would love to view it a higher resolution if possible. Did you score the board to create the white whiskers.
