I am no longer asked to shoot these sort of projects. The second picture does not appear to be out of focus but, overexposed. Try reducing the light and maybe increase the contrast.

The Metallic Blue one is Stunning, John! & Yes, There's nothing like a little Focus! Lighting is Key when Focusing! Just put it on Auto & Make Sure the green light is steady & not flashing!
