Acrylics on paper (10x14 ins). A typical abandoned old stone cottage, of which there are many in Co. Mayo. The twisted tree is evidence of the strong Atlantic winds that often batter the shores.
Stunning piece Jacki. Love the wind warped tree as well.
Artist Reply: Thanks a million Martin............most of the trees along the coast here are like this.......when those Atlantic gales come in, the boughs become twisted but I see them as wonderful natural sculptures :o))
It's clear that you treasure your homeland, Jacki. This captures a great deal of the heart and soul of the country. I believe it's important to be reminded of what previous generations had to endure without the creature comforts and abundance we take for granted. Very nicely done.
Artist Reply: Thanks a mill, Mike for your wonderful words. The history of this land holds many tragedies and hard times but it is the triumph over adversity that has shaped the character of Ireland and its people, so I think it's important to the present to remember the past :o))
Jacki, I think you've captured the light on the foreground rocks and grasses especially well. The scene captures the beauty of the coastline and also how difficult it must have been to eke out a living here.

Artist Reply: Thanks a million Dan for the lovely comments..........It's really rewarding when someone sees the story behind the scene. On the left of the painting, you can see the ridges where the potatoes were grown - something i forgot to mention in my description ;o))
So romantic and beautiful! Love it Jacki . My pic of today
Artist Reply: ....Ooops - i forgot to thankyou as well for making this your pic of the day.............Its so flattering when a person likes one of my paintings that much :o))
