Winter is a wonderful time. Frosty, snowy, and magical... Anyway, three winter months are the time of holiday. This means that there are many reasons for pleasant gifts. Maybe this work might be the perfect present for someone special I love all the seasons and one of the most exciting times for me is when we get snow. This bright rendering of snowy mountains captures that hushed stillness of a winter afternoon. Subtle colors abound, and the finely applied paint and a lot of detail help to suggest the actual weight of heavy snow. The gently curved trees pull the eye into the center of the composition, where one can see the outline of distant houses. Painted intuitively on Plein Air with no reference material this oil has instead relied on an instinctive approach creating an emotional response using feelings.
