Fowl King

I love every animal, but I'm particularly fond of cats and birds. Chickens have always captured my interest because of their many colors and, despite the stereotype of them being unintelligent, their character. “Fowl King” was inspired by the largest and most dominant rooster we own. This rooster is very aggressive to the other three that live in the same coop, but he’s very kind to people. In fact, whenever a person enters the coop to hand out bread and other treats, he runs up to you expectantly and waits for handouts. Still, he has a sense of arrogance about him that is always there. He demands the highest roost to sleep on, the best parts of every treat, and the best spots to take dust baths and sunbathe. The hens crowd around him like paparazzi and he is always the main attraction. Most people wouldn't think of chickens having personality, but seeing this king might change your mind. “Fowl King” 16x20 inch canvas. Acrylic. © Cara Bevan
