©Delores J. Knowles 2008 -- White Ibis (Eudociumus Albus) One of the most numerous wading birds in the southeast United States, it is also found in areas of mild climates throughout the world. Yes, this photo is a White Ibis -- one that has not reached adulthood. Although their white plumage is spectacular, I really think they are very pretty in their youth, too. You will notice that besides the color of his feathers being different, his eyes are not yet the beautiful blue they will become when he is older. His bill will also loose the organge look and become red. This youngester was photographed in Lake County, Florida, just as the sun was coming up.

Beautiful portrait of this noble bird!!! Wonderful soft and tender colors in the background show the elegant silhouette of the ibis!!! And the vivid view of his eye - brilliant!!!
