Fairyland Magic

Encaustic beeswax on board. Strung and ready to hang. Lovely soft tones of yellows and browns in the background and the part outline of a large powerful horse and a tiny fairy are scraped and coloured into the wax. This work is composed of many layers of different coloured pure beeswax wax, overlaid in parts with gold leaf and scraped back in others to reveal underlying colours. It simply needs a rub with a soft cloth occaisionally to bring back the lustre of the pure beeswax, and gradually the wax will harden and cure til this needs doing perhaps once per year. Encaustic paintings, like all fine artwork should never be hung in direct sunlight. For those people worried about melting, wax melts at 130. in the words of a famous American encaustic artist.. If my art is melting in your home you have a bigger problem, your house is on fire... Frame: Unframed, may be framed but framing not necessary. Size: 24 x 24 inches Price: £200

What an awesome texture one can build up with this encaustic bee-wax! LOTS OF WORK! But the result is smashing!! Love how you share the concern of melting artwork in your interior! Ha ha ha!! Great comment and text! --Love and Light~OLGA

Great texture and artwork!

Artist Reply: thanks all - this piece does have lots of texture from the many layers of wax, that I scrape back to reveal the colours underneath. Its a really exciting medium, and I'm enjoying learning about it, having only started a few months ago.
