I had the pleasure of attending the Ferry County Fair this year. It is held up in a little mountain-top town where the arenas and grounds are surrounded by evergreens. It is really like taking a step back in time up there. I was so tickled at how all the kids seemed to be dusty-bottomed and wearing well-used cowboy boots as they enjoyed good, clean fun. My goodness how they can ride! "America the Beautiful" was drifting over from the bandstand as I strolled up to the 4-H barn where a little girl was posing for a picture with her prize-winning sheep. How heartwarming it was to see a child being rewarded for all her hard work on such a timeless endeavor! Needless to say, it inspired a corgi painting! Original 4 x 4 mini painting in the private collection of J. Durrance.
