Malin Kundang

Inspired by Todd McFarlane's "Twisted Fairy Tales" figurines, I decided to create "Twisted Indonesian Folk-Tales" series. This one portrays the story of 'Malin Kundang'. Malin Kundang was a boy born of poor family. When he grew up, he left his house and set out to make his fortune. Years later he became rich and powerful. His mother came to see him one day, but Malin rejected his mother's presence. He denied having a poor mother. Disappointed, Malin's mother cursed him and Malin turned into stone. This story is told by parents in Indonesia so that their children will always respect their mother, and always remember where they came from. Black 0.3 Pentel Hybrid Technica on maruman sketch book.
