9 in. X 12 in., acrylic on canvas. This series of paintings relies heavily on automatic drawings. The title is a take off of a riddle from Finnegan's Wake. "Was liffe worth leaving? Nej !" The image suggests the 'Ba', the ancient Egyptian aspect of the spirit portrayed as having a human head and a bird's body. This winged spirit roamed the earth during the day, but returned to the underworld every night. Of course in modern times this spirit would have a mechanical aspect as well, like the thermodynamically powered perpetual motion machines, the dunking bird.

Hi Dan. Thanks for your warm and positive review of my shadow piece late Aug. (I've been out of commission for a while). Love this piece. Festive with ethnical whimsy. Keep up the great work. I look forward to viewing more of your pieces.
