This thistle bloom is large even by Texas standards, so stopping by the roadside to photograph it was a given.

If you ever need any help Brenda all you have to do is 'Thistle'. Must have been left there by a Scotsman. xx Thistle do nicely. Superb

I think thistle seed is the favorite food of House Finches. I used to work for a grain dealer and he was always looking for thistle seed to put in his wild bird mix. He talked about feed for House Finches. In Kentucky they always kept donkeys in the pasture to eat it. It is such a noxious weed. Pretty though.
