Dune Curve

For over 10 years I waited to visit a place with huge sand dunes, and I finally got my chance when I visited Dun Huang in western China back in 2001. My hope was to capture the simple yet elegant graphic designs of sand dunes in the light of sunrise. Twp problems arose, however. The first was that it took us longer to get to the edge of the desert and out into the dune sea than we expected; the sun came up as we were running across the sand. The other was that the sky was a bit cloudy and the light was difused somewhat. I was still able to shoot several good frames during that morning, but nothing as remarkable as I had hoped. Looking back at the slides now there are few images that really stand out. This is one of them. Another one can also be found in the Sand folder.

I have seen a lot of dunes, but you captured it so perfectly....love the line for the eye to follow!

you have an excellent eye for structures and abstracts!

Artist Reply: Exploring the earth like this is very exciting for me. I wish I could see more or visit those kinds of places more often.
