Winter Branches

With the rice paddies on the mountainside covered in snow, all details of the landscape are whited-out except for the bare limbs of these young trees. The photograph was made in Minakami Town, Gunma Prefecture, Japan. Minolta 801si alpha, 24-85mm lens, Fujichrome Velvia. Copyright Peter Skov.

I love this- it's one of those compositions where "less is actually more", a philosophy that one can see in Japanese culture, I think...it's like a zen ink painting where a meditative, "simple -seeming" brushing stroke of ink on pristine rice paper holds so much power in its depth.

So much intensity with minimal color, detail or subject matter. Fine, fine work here.
