these are Coots, a semi web footed duck; on the right is the female, on the left is the male...the female is dying...she cannot walk, run or fly...she can remain errect only by leaning upon her mate...he is in excellent health and can flee at will though he chooses not too. i am 4 feet away, much closer than i should be able to approach...they love each other (as ducks understand the word) & he will not leave her....
