This small piece was started in 2023, pretty early in the year. I had the head lying around for some time before I decided on a title. The title, in turn, lead to what form the rest would take. I used my special compound, cotton, Styrofoam, newsprint and acrylic paint. It stands 7 inches tall with base and the base is 5 inches around. The Lump has a heart but it isn't exactly where it should be This occurs sometimes.. Original Jones Art, still lumping along in northwest Austin, Texas.

what a lovely sculpture Charles, he reminds me of Mr Kant staring up at stars

Artist Reply: Thank you, Mr. Wu! I really appreciate that. Hope all is going well. :)

Hey Charley, This Guy Seems to Love the Heavens with that red Heart and looking up. Super !

Artist Reply: He may be part astronomer and part astrologer, you never know, Denny. Thanks! Hope you are doing great, BTW.

What an incredibly fascinating idol. Definitely looking for a friend.

Artist Reply: He tried out for American Idol but was told he had to be able to move in some way or sing. He opened his mouth---well, it was already open---and not a peep was heard. His face is now stuck this way for perpetuity. Such is the life of an inanimate object. :)

This is quite evocative Charles. The upward gaze is a fascinating aspect. We spectators make of it what we will of course. And then we see the heart. The phrase " heart on my sleeve" comes to mind. Take care of yourself Charles.

Artist Reply: The viewer will only see what is in him or her to see, which is why I've always thought a lot of artspeak from an artist just so much fluff. BUT I do think knowing something about the personality/life of a creative type to be very informative so long as it doesn't make one overly judgmental. When I made the head, I was just out of a wheelchair and feeling very much 'the lump.' Thanks for the nice comment. :)

WHAT A NEAT LITTLE LUMP CHARLES. HE'S LOOKING UP WITH HIS TENDER LITTLE HEAT PRAYING FOR ARMS AND LEGS. WHAT A GREAT FACE PLEAING.

Artist Reply: Thanks, Joanie! Yes, he prides himself on his neatness, despite his obvious disability. Appreciate the comment. Hope all is going great today. :)
