Snowy Vacation

*I live in Southern California. There is no snow or snowing here. It rains and has some pretty warm summers, but never a snowing that I can remember. People who have looked at my winter styled holiday pictures that live where it snows all the time tell me I must be mad to do pictures such as this one I called Snowy Vacation. You see I lived in Las Vegas Nevada for about seven years and the heat during the summer is so extremely hot, and then moving back to Los Angeles California, and the heat was pretty good and hot here too during the last summer, that believe me...this work is a dream to be so cold and snowy. I love the snow because I never get it. People do not care for it at all who live in the places where it does snow and temperatures get down below zero. My point being, maybe I should live where you who has snow and freeze...and you can come here and love the rain and semi cool winters and hot summers............. Sorry, I wouldn't change it...I have the local mountains of Big Bear where it does snow and I also have the Pacific ocean so I can go to the beach! L.A. California.....no Snowy Vacation here. Merry Christmas and best wishes for a very Happy 2009 New Year! .......as usual, just my thoughts. .......~Johnny M. Piper J.M.Piper©2009, All Rights Reserved

YOU DID A MARVELOUS JOB INDEED A PLEASURE TO VIEW!

Artist Reply: *Thanks John! I do about two or three new holiday works every year, Halloween and Christmas...they have to be beautiful and mood driven because Christmas was not the greatest childhood experiences that children normally have, but that is too long a story for here right now...something that will be added to my autobiography when or if that happens. Thank you again my friend because these comments assure me that the way I deal from those memories is to create something with such a quality they let me escape those doldrums!

yes,the snow is beautiful and can be very enjoyable, skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiles, and that Currier and Ives look, but I have lived up north all my life and I would not miss it,mainly because of the bad driving conditions just to get to work and risk your life at times and collapsing roofs due to several feet of snow on them or ice storms that knock out your power for weeks sometimes.still you did a lovely job here and merry christmas.

Artist Reply: *Hi Ruth! Yes I understand what you mean by being overwhelmed by the snow...but when you don't live in it and you have to drive just to go to where it is, it has the completely opposite effect. And when it comes to the holidays snow and a winter cabin and a decorated tree with turkey and all the yums that go with it, it tends to make a cozy christmas to non-snow people...where I am sure you would love to have a nice sunny and warm scene with all the rest the same. I'll do that picture next! Thanks so very much for the great comment about my work! I wish you the merriest christmas and a happy new year!
