Artist Reply: I recall using a 19 mm Fish Eye lens for this Social Realism Photograph. Both these kids weren't posing they were just stoned. I shot the photo upward from squatting on my knees.
The peoples elected Sheriff, Eugene would allow you to go up dirt road, above the baseball park and get drunk, that is if you are kind enough to throw a few Joints his way. I would have to say that Madrid is a very mellow town and usually there is never any disorderly conduct...for one reason the people of Madrid will not allow this to take place.
Artist Reply: enforcement there, expect for a small fire station. These people do very well without the Police.
There Idea about life; Is Live and let live. They are very good people but have decided to live in Madrid near the Ortez Mountains which is out in the middle of no-where. They live there because they do not want to be hassled by the world and it's problems.
Thanks for the inspiring comments...This seems like a spontaneous photograph...catching the stillness of the moment.
Artist Reply: Madrid is a very small town way out in the middle of no where, within the Ortiz Mountains area.
Back in the late 60's and early 70's Freaks use that passed through there stayed in the abandon houses that people lived in that once worked in a mine there. Eventually more people came and then they renovated the houses and turned the small inner town area into Art Gallery's and Boutique shops. They have a Fire Station but there is no Police so the people of the town keep law and order. The wall where River and Angelic are sitting is called the unemployment office. That is where the towns people gather and smoke hashish and Pot.
