I see in this an abstract theme of love associated with the rose. While roses are red and white (maybe pink?) the pink I think refers to the heart and the blush feeling that comes across a woman's face when receiving a dozen of these little love notes, while the green represents the stem and leaves from which it grew; overlooked it provides the support and nuturing that makes the rose what it is.
