©Delores J. Knowles 2008 -- Standing close to four feet high, the Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias) is one of the most majestic of birds. Their diet is mosty fish but it will eat a variety of insects and even small animals. Usually very placid, this fellow was upset at a group of Ibises that were movining into his fishing area. The look in his eyes says it all. Photographed in Lake County, Florida

Indeed what an intense look! We have some reintroduced species of eagles and wading birds here, and they are one of my favorite subjects, particularly the wading birds. They remind me of a kind of elegant dinosaur, masters of their environment. Additionally, I am most impressed with the striking use of the color backgrounds, which adds ambiance and impact to these already magnificent birds. This photograph are of an high professional quality , very good work Delores!alma groskinsky 10 Jan 2008
