Fawn and Doe - Autumn Afternoon

I took this photo from my front porch. These are a few of my neighobors. This doe and fawn, and the twin sibling that was off bouncing in the yard greet me each day. The doe is addicted to carrots. She's the peeping deer that scared me sillylooking in the window the first week I moved in. Her fawns peeked at me as well. They were the welcome wagon.

Wonderful!

Blue Doll 06 Nov 2007

wonderfull... this is a awesome shot... knowing that those animals are very very quick well done!!! :o)

Artist Reply: Thanks Blue Doll! They visit me daily, and sleep in the yard. Still, I can take zillions of photos, but getting the one that is perfect takes patience and som luck. A good camera as well. They usually don't pause here, so I got lucky they did.

Artist Reply: THanks again, Hui! One of my best photos to date, a perfect moment.

Katrina Papoutcharov 04 Nov 2007

as close to perfect as you can get

Artist Reply: Thanks Katrina so much! I am untrained with photograpy except following my artistic eye and instincct. I really need to study it more and take some classes. I plan to when I get the opprtunity to.

Amazing shot!!!!!!!!! Beautiful!!

Artist Reply: Thanks Debbie!! They are getting more comfortable with us living here. The are was kind of drab in color until the leaves turned color. It made the photo work so much better.

Shelley O'Bar 03 Nov 2007

beautiful picture....lovely light.

Artist Reply: Thanks Shelly! It's a beautiful time of the early evening that always gets this splash of sunlight. Usually they walk past here in a hurry, so I got lucky they decided to stop for a moment in the light.

You couldn't havbe planned this any better. hehehe Wonderful capture!

Artist Reply: Thanks Jessica! It was one of those "too perfect moments, did I get it?" You don't get many of those. I took about 20 shots rapidly and this one was the only one that came out right. They move about to much, and their heads were turned away.

Terry: this is an amazing photo; I really love the backlight on the path and the branches above....this photo has great depth and clarity...top notch!

Artist Reply: Thanks Ron! I have a new Sony a100 10.2 camera I have been learning to use. I got one that was idiot proof. I needed the autostabilizer as my hands will shake. It's light enough not to hurt my hands or neck mch so I can use it often. The zoom I got for it is wonderful. I'm often looking for lighting like this to capture. It's a magical time and space to capture on photo.

Terry what emily says just superb1 how obliging of them to pose for you!oh gosh I know of some people kill and eat these --ohhhhh

Artist Reply: Thanks, Ginia, I'd rather eat dirt than the deer. I know sometimes they get over populated in some places. I'd rather watch them than hunt them. Often we are all outside in the yard munching on carrots. They have me eating more veggies and fruits now. They get all the scraps from the kitchen. We had noticed the area creeks were dred up, so also put out a watering area for them. The deer were all coming in for long drinks, as well as the wild turkeys. I'll start posting some of the turkey photos up this week as well.

Just perfect balance, composition and lighting! Wonderful shot!

Artist Reply: Thanks John, the lighting and colors were perfect and after a few weeks of hopong to catch them there with their heads and bodies in the right pose, I managed to capture them. I've been persistant at it, and they got used to the sound of my camera shutter going off.

Michael Forbus 03 Nov 2007

Magnificent work with the camera and what is magnificent is the halo like sunlight that illuminates them from behind. Great shot and so beautiful. You are so talented. Michael

Artist Reply: Thansk Miguel, that are gets the sun perfect at that time of day. I love trying to get shots like this, with the lighting illuminating. I try to frame a capture as if I plan to paint it. Often I can't decide to paint it or post the photo. Sometimes, I just wil have to do both, lol!

Robert, R. Ferguson 03 Nov 2007

Beautiful nature work. Truly outstanding. Admiration, Bob.

Artist Reply: Thanks Bob so much. I'm a newbie at photography, but am using my art skills when framing out a shot. It's making up for skill or shortcutting it. I know what will look perfect, so am figuring out how to get it captured. I need to take some classes to really learn the camera.

June Steward 03 Nov 2007

Sweet and beautiful. Great capture, Terry!

Artist Reply: Thanks June, deer are everywhere up here in the mountains. I've seen them for years when we visited, but will never get over the awe of their beauty no matter how often I see them.

Anneke Hut 03 Nov 2007

I love this photo, Terry! Wonderful light and composition!

Artist Reply: Thanks Anneke! I love theis magic time of the day, I can call for the deer, feed them, be amused by them. Like having my own fantasy world. They hear me in the kitchen and will come position themselves by the window so I know they are out there. My garden is not getting all the kitchen composite now, the deer are enjoying it. I love that this area is a santuary for them.
