So sad. This is one of those pieces that gives the viewer such an atmospheric presence. It tells a story for you with little or no imagination required to see what the artist really intended. Is she hiding behind those leaves? Is she secretly watching someone? The eyes tell me that she might just be observing "the one that got away" with his/her new love. The expressiveness in the subject's face really takes me to that place where I identify with how she feels. And THAT, in my opinion, is the ultimate goal to be achieved in any piece of art...
