OLD HEIDELBERG BRIDGE OVER THE NECKAR RIVER Again and again the old bridge has been sung by poets. Goethe said it is as beautiful as perhaps no other bridge on earth. It is a symbol of the town, completed in 1788 and stands where four bridges, one after the other, have stood since the 13th century.
