Meadowlark

Animal Art

Western meadowlark
Sturnella neglecta
The song of the meadowlark always conjures up a spring day in the country. The Eastern Meadowlark is very similar to the Western Meadowlark. Where their ranges overlap, they are best separated by voice. Western Meadowlark has yellow throat extending slightly farther into face than Eastern.

wildlife artist Kathie Miller has captured the Meadowlark mid song in colored pencils.

I can see this 'singing' bird on the front of a greeting card--excellent portrayal! :) -Kerra
