Hi...and welcome to my art work! **** This is an 18 X 24 acrylic on canvas and my 3rd acrylic painting. I need ya'lls help on this one...I don't know whether it's done or not!!! LOL This is the first structure I have done and I don't know whether everything is "lined up" right, etc., especially with the broken out windows, etc. So please be brutally frank with me and let me know if there's anything I need to adjust, change, or fix so I can get this "baby" done! LOL **** Thank you for stopping by today and thank you also for your comments/suggestions in advance!:) **** Have a wonderful week. God Bless !!

I would darken one side of the building a bit, to give more of a sculptural effect, perhaps the right side as the viewer see it...

Artist Reply: Elf...thank you for your comments and critique!! I did take other suggestions and worked some more on the painting. I just have never gotten the hopefully "improved" photo uploaded yet!! :( Got too busy, I guess. I will think about what you said and maybe do a little bit more before posting again! Have a great day...

Our works decay and disappear but God gentlest works stay looking down on the ruins we toil to rear. *Walter Smith ... BRILLIANT PIECE OF ART ... an art illiterate person like me can't say much except for look at it in awe ... so very beautiful

I really like the light on the building, and the light green foliage I (front right corner of the building) is delightful.

Artist Reply: Thank you so much for your wonderful comments to my work!! :) I have already taken suggestions and "fixed" this picture up a little! :) May post again later...

Hi Ruth, one thing i like are the clouds in it...lol...imagine that..The painting is great only thing an amateur like myself might suggest is the windows seem a little to good in shape for being an old building..maybe rough them up a little. but what do i know lol...joe

Artist Reply: LOL I can't imagine you liking clouds, Joe!! The windows don't look quite that "good" in the real picture, but the detail around the windows doesn't show up too well here. I'm going to take everyone's suggestions and work some more on the picture. We will see what I can do about the windows!! Thanks for your support, Joe! :)

Thats why I dont paint buildings!! They are very hard to get perfect- I think yours looks great. I really love the sky, the climbing bushes on the building and that gorgeous red bush in front! I think the only thing I see that I might add would be just a hint more contrast to the edges of that tallest part of the structure.

Artist Reply: Thank you so much, Lisa, for all those glorious compliments!!! I am taking everybodies suggestions to heart and will work some more on this one. I can see what you mean about the contrast! Thanks for your suggestion, my friend! :)

Carrie Ann Watson 20 Feb 2007

I think you did a stunning job on this Ruth! Wonderful texture on the building, and excellent shading there as well! The only window that seems to throw me a bit is the one on the top far right. I'm not quite sure why though...I think it's the bottom of that window. Beautiful painting! :)

Artist Reply: Thank you very much, Carrie for responding to my plea?? LOL I think what is throwing you off is there is no separation from the botton of the window and the part of the ruin inside the window. Thanks for your suggestion and I will try to fix that! :) Thank you kindly for your wonderful comments!! :)

Anneke Hut 20 Feb 2007
