Flamingo: Mardi Gras

This is one of the latest in the Flamingo series: Mardi Gras! Professional grade watercolors on Arches cold pressed 140 lb paper. As per the feedback I've been getting on this piece--he is now 'pepto-bismal' pink to stand out a little more.

Where's the "Hurricane" glass???? It's one of the more famous NO "drinks"!!!!! Wait til the Baton Rouge people see this pic...lol. Are you aware that one of their main Mardi Gras parades in dedicated to Flamingos????

Kerra, this is wonderful!! I love the playfulness of the entire scene, with the fun loving flamingo ready to party!! Excellent job on the details and colors!! ~S

Artist Reply: Hey there, Susan! Thanks for your feedback on this Flamingo bird. I'm looking it over now and wondering if I shouldn't have made the hues darker?.....hmmmm....he seems to get kind of 'lost' by the pinks on the wall behind him. (pondering) I've been working on a series of this guy and he's been morphing into a whole 'new bird' as I'm progressing--it's almost to the point of real comedy now. Have you ever done any series? -Kerra

Kerra, great cartoon. Wonderful image and somewhat true if I can recall my last Mardi Gras. Miguel

Artist Reply: Thanks so much, Miguel! This little guy will join his counterparts in a series submission for greeting cards. (fingers crossed here!) :) Hope everything is going great for you--Kerra

I love it!!!Shows both your talent and sense of humor, great work Kerra!!

Artist Reply: What a nice compliment, Randy! Doing the whimsical pieces in amongst the serious commissions makes for a nice 'break'. Art to me is always refreshing--and more so to dawdle in the silly side. :) Hope everything is going great for you! -Kerra

this is adorable....

Artist Reply: Bianca! So very nice of you to stop by and leave feedback on this little guy. Never did I think Flamingos would be a 'thing' of mine--my relatives are in Lousiana and have a 'thing' for the birds. :) Hope your day goes great! -Kerra

Artist Reply: Hey, there, Fernando! Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving some feedback on this piece. It was a nice and welcomed break from more serious pieces I've been working on. Being able to just 'go at it' --without having to pay such close attention to likeness and dimensions was more than refreshing. Hope your day is going great! -Kerra
