I do alot of portraits from photos for people, but it seems when I scan them to add them to my website I loose so much of the shadowing and sometimes the detail. I do not know what I am doing wrong!! Anyone have any suggestions?

also check at what Rez you are scanning them at and use the programs software...put another sheet of paper behind it too as the paper might be too transluscent! very nice rendering! :)

Hmmm, the only think that I can say is that a photograph does not always convey the feel of the subject when transferred. Maybe you could get a software like elements and use a filter that converts a photo to a drawing or painting, with very good results I might add, then pay attention to how the computer shades and converts the photograph?

Hi Debbie, wonderful portrait work. One thing that has helped me is I take a clear glass from a picture frame and put it over the scanner glass and then put my pic I'm scanning on top of that and cover and scan...it seems to pick up more of the mid tones..I would also play around with different settings..brightness..sharpness..etc..and see if that helps.

Adjust your scanner to scan little darker! It will pick up more of your shading! Lovely portrait!
