Hi...and welcome to my art work! This was one of my first paintings and the first portrait I did. It was a study in value and was supposed to be a self-portrait. But...I didn't want to do ME so I did my granddaughter instead! LOL The bottom picture is the value study. In the top picture I added tinted glazes and some oil paint. It doesn't have a lot of detail being so new and not knowing any better! LOL I hope you enjoyed your visit today and will stop back again. I do appreciate your feedback/comments and thank you in advance for them. May you have a blessed day!! :)

Well your granddaughter is very beautiful, Ruth...and you did a REMARKABLE PORTRAIT of her...truly magnificent...just love it.

Artist Reply: Thank you for your most gracious and generous comments about my work, Nira!!! I gave the painting to her mother, Barbara Kelly, (another artist on AW) for Christmas last year!!! She was so happy she didn't have to wait until I went to Heaven!!! LOL Hugs...

Your granddaughter is great. But I would still like to see a self portrait. They are always very interesting from an artistic and a psychological standpoint. Keep up the nice work.

Artist Reply: LOL!! Well....maybe some day!! :) There is a painting I have been wanting to do but it will be a challenge!! Now that I have "broken out the oils again" I may tackel it! Thanks so much for your great feedback!! :)

They're both wonderful, Ruth. I have a tendany to go for the black and white, though. Great study of value. I noticed the sleeve in contrast to the front of her shirt, no outlines, just difference in values. Very good work! She's pretty, too!

Artist Reply: Thank you for your wonderfull comments and feedback, Janet!! You are sooo encouraging! :):)
