The Lost Children

This is yet another I did last week. I wanted to portray the feeling of dispair, and the hardship faced by so many of our nations poor. I used a tecnique I had never tried before with this one. I wanted a dingy look without a lot of detail, I aldo wanted the black to be as dark as possible. What I used for this was Derwent-Sketching pencils, HB,2B,&6B. I then went over the the pencil with a water brush. This alowed me to get a dirty look to the drawing, and reduce some of the detail. Being that it was the first time Itried this I didnt get where I wanted it but I enjoyed doing it and will definately try this again. I would love to hear back from someone who has used this method before, and humbly ask for some tips and advise Thanks Rick

Richard, you have accomplished what you set out to do! I am not sure about the genre, but the sense of abandonment is really quite evident! So many fall through the cracks, are not noticed, left unattended, barely there as being recognized as beings! You have achieved in this piece all of that, and who of us will be there to catch those falling?!? Wonderful presentation, and I hope someone pays attention!! ~S

Artist Reply: Thank you soooo much Tom and Susan, I must say I have been deeply touched by the wonderfyl feedback I have recieved. This is indeed a situation that is dificult to look at and all to easy to ignore. Thank you again

This truely broke my heart... I have never used this method of drawing/painting but I think it gets right to the point, and draws you deep into the feeling of this piece. I wouldnt change a thing!

Artist Reply: Thanks Lisa,Those are beautiful words spoken by an equally beautful artist, you have an amazing gift . Many can draw the subject but few can bring it to life the way that you do. I'm adding you to my watch list, and look forward to seeing your future work. Good Luck and God Bless
