An Evening at the Theatre

Last saturday, while watching a wonderful "Swan Lake" i decided it was high time i recorded the view from what has been my seat for more than thirty years. So during intervals, in almost pitch dark, I sketched it on the back of the program. Later, at home, I used my scribbles for this drawing, still mantaining the sketchy look. I think it is a suitable scene to wish all of you a wonderful New Year! Done in Derwent Colorsoft on peach Canson Mi-Teintes (rough side). Ouch, that paper ate half of my pencils ;) Dimensions about 25*35 cm.

Wow, Cristina! :). I was there, on December 31, 2006. We went to old Kimmel Center theater for "Nutcracker" and it seems we were sitting exactly as in your drawing (in so-called "family circle" ).. What I did not do is I I did not make a sketch - I just slept first part because in the evening we were going for this long-long New Year party:). Cheers!

Very different from your other work. I like architecture in art, this is raeally very well done. The use of colour is bringing the right atmosphere to the viewer. Hats off, Cristina.

I love it! I don't find many works done on 'colored' paper---isn't it fun to use this as the 'middle' hue? Great eye--it takes a lot of practice not to overwork. :) -Kerra
