The grand facade of an earlier era slowly disintegrates beyond the blur of modern velocity, propelling with it all the culture we can carry.... © 2006, Michael Cook

Fantastic "setting sun" hues on the buildings! Wonderful work.

Artist Reply: Thanks, Mark. I wasn't sure if the "sunset light angle and color shift" really came through for the viewers or not. But you have a good eye, a good perceptive ability!

I'm very impressed seeing all the interesting and marvellous ART you created! this is Great! love the speed of the yellow car and the architecture of the buildings!

Artist Reply: Thanks, Nelly. Actually, this taxi was just a "foil" for the larger effect. It turns out that, since this painting, much of the architecture was changed, making this somewhat of a historical painting I guess: The wonderful old "pump-house" for ventilation of the Brooklyn/Battery tunnel under the East River was replaced by an incredibly aggressive, ugly monstrosity (Modernism?). The actual ferry building is undergoing "changes"--but it remains to be seen whether they will maintain any fidelity to what was created here before, now two centuries into the past...
