Larissa's Dragon

In a fantasy world, dragons are guardians. They chose whom they would protect and guard them fiercely. This dragon was born when I had reason to have contact with an 11-month old baby being investigated for sexual abuse. She was very submissive. She did not cry, and when we finished our testing she put her arms around my neck and I held her. I still feel her fingers on my neck. This is a sculpture I made to protect her. The chest the dragon protects contains personal, private and fragile things. The only way to open the chest is to destroy the dragon. Secrets, fragility, strength. There are more "Larissa's" than we care to think about. If you choose, please add your prayers in whatever way you conceive them to be for the protection of innocence.

Perhaps this is the dragon that you harbor in your soul as well. God bless the innocent. I commend your beautiful work!

Wonderful work for the very important cause. Hope that this dragon will help to protect Larissa and many-many others like her. There are so many kids and teens that need our love and protection.

Wonderful work, Diana - just so sad that it was in response to such a dreadful situation. My thoughts are with the little girl.
