One of my many attempts to a self-portrait. Who knows why it is such a challenge for me. I don't seam to capture myself the way I am. Perhaps because I am looking to show who I am rather than to reproduce the likeness. This drawing was done the other night from the reflection in a small mirror. Feel free to critique it. I would love to know what impression it makes on you. Thank you.

I think it's magnificent. The light and shadows and the flow of the hair are great. The expression in your eyes look like you were a bit tired or staring off into space somewhere, perhaps in a daydream. My bf says from where he's sitting it looks as though you are looking right at him. An interesting play on angles. Beautifully done. I do know what you mean about the self-portraits too. Beautiful work Alexandra. I really like the natural look to this ..better than using a photo ref. The subtle values in the hand and face are very well done...so many times I try to outline hands when I draw them instead of creating volume and shapes with light and shadow....really nice work on this.
