For once I think the title is self-explanatory. This is a 6 by 4.5 inches gel pen drawing on medium bond acid-free paper. It's simple and simply my last entry for the current year. My newest 3D piece is almost ready though I think this is the first one to actually surprise me with its makeup on. Original Jones Art still functionally dysfunctional in northwest Austin, Texas.

Kind of reminds me of the joke where a horse goes into a bar and the bartender says, "So ... why the long face ? " Sorry couldn't resist : ) Looking forward to seeing your next 3D piece in the new year !

Artist Reply: I've been reading about Modigliani and how he began as a sculptor, heavily influenced by African art. By the time he moved to painting, he'd already developed the elongated facial style. Maybe a little of that rubbed off, Dave. But some of my characters do have rather long faces and stubby bodies. Happy...happy...happy...oh yes---New Year. :)

Hey Charles, good to see another piece of work from you. Hope you're doing well. Are you on your own for New Year's and do you even do anything, or just watch the world go by? Anyway, I wish you all the best as always, and we'll talk in the new year. Regards, Erik

Artist Reply: Some say I'm a piece of work, Erik, so pulling another piece or two going forward shouldn't be that difficult. Yes, I'm playing the countdown solo again. And, yes, let's have a communicative NY. Take care. :)

This one definite looks much more optimistic and less critical about what he has under his nose. Works great even without color.

Artist Reply: Well, he's pulling a long face but it does seem to come naturally for him, Nikolay. I do have an ounce or so of optimism in reserve---just in case. Hope the year ends with a whimper instead of a bang. :)
