Occasionally, I'll go to YouTube and watch videos of recent art shows in Los Angeles, New York City, etc. They can be rather repetitive and the videographer, his bias and level of expertise, can make or break the experience. But one can get an idea of what is happening in these shows overall. I find the outsider art shows usually more interesting/entertaining than the so-called contemporary shows. But I have noticed, over the several years I've viewed, that outsider art and insider art are becoming more difficult to distinguish one from the other. They seem to me to be melding. This is a 6 by 4.5 inches gel pen with color pencil drawing on medium bond acid-free paper. Original Jones Art always seems to be on the outside looking in in northwest Austin, Texas.

im a outsider myself im a student Nietzsche some people probably look at as a outsider because of it, i dont try to look in or don't look back. love the Portrait Tho.Charles:D

Artist Reply: I'm sure you read Nietzsche in the original German, Ray. Just kidding, of course. He was an interesting man who met his own Salome and, of course, she didn't even want his head. BUT that at least made him seem human to me. Uh, not Ubermensch. Hope you are doing well and staying well also. :)

Yes, I've done that too . Some shows are good, others not so , but i've noticed the same thing . Btw, your title reminds me of the Pink Floyd song off the album "Meddle. " " Wot's uh the deal " is the title I believe. Your character is pretty bright and wide eyed, probably from all that looking in : )

Artist Reply: Seems I jumped the gun on this reply, Dave. I look at those vids hoping to find something/someone with his/her own vision. Someone willing and eager to buck the trendy and the clich'e. It's the so-called Outsider Shows that offer a peek into what's possible when someone either ignores or is ignorant of the art world and its low-water mark. Regarding Pink Floyd, I was listening to them in the late 60's. Most jumped on their bandwagon with the release of Dark Side Of The Moon. :)
