The Citroën 2 hp, built from 1949 to 1990, can rightly be called an iconic car in Europe. The latter models were more comfortable and had a 603 cc engine, instead of the earlier 379 cc, or 2 hp and a donkey. But once it had to end. After more than 5 million copies, the time had come. Citroën knew full well that they could continue with this myth, but the 2hp was a complex car to build. It still required a lot of manual work, not yet designed to be produced in an efficient way. Consequently, relatively little profit was made on a 2hp. According to the numbers, it was time to outsource the production facility to a more profitable model. The last dance was a Charleston. On July 27, 1990, a black/burgundy Charleston rolled out of the Portuguese factory as the final valve. Today, around a hundred copies have been preserved worldwide, both in museums and among collectors, and are sold at auctions for prices ranging from €80,000 to €100,000. Image size: 260 x 360 mm
